Halogen Testing

Halogen-free generally refers to low halogen. In the production and assembly process of electrical and electronic products, if halogen compounds are not intentionally added to the raw materials, and the finished product does not contain halogen compounds, the product can be called "halogen-free". Halogen control requirements start from the PCB industry. Now more and more products and fields have also put forward halogen-free requirements, especially brand companies. Although there is no direct national law to mandate control halogen, however, in a buyer-oriented supply chain, halogen-free is often mandatory. Different industry regulations and internal corporate standards may have different requirements for halogen control. IEC61249-2-21-Materials for printed boards and other interconnecting structures - Part 2-21: Reinforced base materials, clad and unclad - Non-halogenated epoxide woven E-glass reinforced laminated sheets of defined flammability (vertical burning test), copper-clad.

Evaluation limit requirements: The content of bromine (Br) must not exceed 0.09% by weight , the content of chlorine (Cl) must not exceed 0.09% by weight , and the total halogen content must not exceed 0.15% by weight.
